Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for aromatic polyimide tape wrapped rectangular copp wire, class 240, in which the insulation consists of one or two layers of polyimide tape.

Class 240 denotes the thermal class, which requires a minimum temperature index of 240 and a heat shock temperature of at least 260 °C.

NOTE: In some countries, such as Canada, Russia and the USA, this product is assigned class 220.

The tape is coated on one or both sides with a suitable adhesive, such as fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP). After wrapping, the film tape is capable of forming a continuous, bonded sheath by sintering process.

The Celsius temperature corresponding to the temperature index is not necessarily the recommended service temperature for the winding wire, since this depends on many factors, including the type of equipment used.

The nominal conductor dimensions covered by this standard are:

— Width: min. 2.00 mm, max. 16.00 mm;

— Thickness: min. 0.80 mm, max. 5.60 mm.

The combinations of width and thickness and the width:thickness ratios are specified in GB/T 7095.1-2008.

When referring to the products covered by this standard, the following information should be given:

— the GB number and/or IEC number;

— the nominal conductor dimensions (width × thickness);

— the grade.

Example: GB/T 23310-2009 1.00 mm × 4.00 mm grade A2 or IEC 60317-44 4.00 mm × 1.00 mm grade A2
